Hello
Kindergarten Families!
Recap
of the Week: Last week we wove some placemats for
our Thanksgiving celebration on Tuesday. We talked about Thanksgiving
traditions in our families and we made a Spanish book about things we are
thankful for with Teacher Caroline. We also began reading groups, working on
words that have the short a sound. And in math, we worked on some 2 dimensional
shapes. We had a lot of fun working together as a group to write a story about
a turkey.
Math: This week we are going to focus
on putting numbers in order, and ordinal numbers (1st, 2nd,
3rd, etc.)
Literacy: We will begin our 3rd
book working on the short a sound this week. We will also do an assessment
where we write down sounds that the teacher calls out.
Writing: We will each
write a story about how to catch a turkey.
Social Studies, Art & Science: Students who have been absent will catch up by making
their Thanksgiving Placemats. Please send in a family photo (not returnable) if
you have not already done so. We will also make a cornucopia. On Tuesday, we
will make some mini pumpkin pies to have for our snack.
Food drive: Thank you to everyone who brought in food for the
Thanksgiving baskets. As we move into December, we will continue to have a box outside
our classroom to collect non-perishable items for Christmas boxes.
Parent-Board Meet
& Greet: The Meet &
Greet has been rescheduled to January 15th from 6:30-7:30pm in the
Conrad Room. We welcome your feedback on how you think our school is doing!
Please RSVP to let us know if you are planning on attending.
Family Fun Night: We had a lot of fun at the Family Fun Night on
Friday. Thank you to all those who came and helped to make it such a great
success!
Bake Sale: Our Bake Sale will be running during school hours on Monday and Tuesday (November
24th and 25th.) If you are dropping off items to sell,
please do so by 8:45am.
Santa Breakfast: Our Santa Breakfast will be on Saturday December
6th, from 9:00-11:00. Santa will give a gift to each child who attends.
Breakfast will be $3.00 for kids and $5.00 for adults. We will need help setting
up, making and serving breakfast, and with clean up. This is a great chance for
parents to get some volunteer time!! Tickets
will be on sale between now and December 4th.

are needed for the Bake Sale, Santa Breakfast and the book fair. There is a
sign-up sheet outside the classroom for the Santa Breakfast. You can also sign
up to help at the school office.
Winter
Attire: Please
send your kindergartner to school with coats and footwear appropriate for the
weather. Even hats and gloves/mittens are needed on some days as this week has
shown us! Remember we go outside as much as we can, as long as it is not too
cold and there is not too much of a downpour.
Sickness: If your
Kindergartener is sick, please call the school office, or you can send me an
email or a text so we can keep track of illnesses.
Weather Related School Closures: Remember, if Vancouver School District declares a 2 Hour Late
Start or is Closed, then our school will be closed too. In case of bad weather,
watch for emails and/or text message notifications from Little Acorn and from
our Remind.com accounts. The Remind.com number
for Little Acorn is 307-459-3175, class code
lapsk20. For Kindergarten, the number is 503-342-8657, class code @473363.
Please
feel free to contact me if you have questions or concerns. Send a text, give me
a call, or you can email. I am here to help you and your child have a great
kindergarten year!
Thank you
for sharing your child with us,
